HP TouchSmart computers: The perfect touch-screen computers!

Touchscreen laptops have made a very dynamic entrance in the PC market! The complete history of the HP TouchSmart products!

The HP TouchSmart was launched by Bill Gated himself way back in January 2007. It was the first touch screen desktop computer to be mass produced and made available to the public. The first HP TouchSmart computers, known as the TouchSmart IQ770 series, had a 19” touch screen. They had all the usual applications and features of a modern desktop, including several USB ports and a wide variety of other connectors allowing the user to connect it to the internet as well as other devices. The first models faired very well with the critics.

The second series of HP TouchSmart computers were released in June 2008, the new model was called  the HP TouchSmart IQ500. These computers featured larger 22” touch screens,they were powered by the latest Intel Core Duo processors and boasted large 500GB Hard Drives. HP also released the TouchSmart IQ800 series which featured a 25.5” touch screen and was designed to serve more as an  entertainment hub by including a built-in TV tuner and remote control. Some of the models in the IQ800 series came with integrated Blu-Ray players.

The latest models of the HP TouchSmart series, the TouchSmart 300 and TouchSmart 600, are aimed at the average consumer and PC user, however HP has also released the TouchSmart 9100 which is aimed at business users. The TouchSmart 9100 is very similar to the TouchSmart 600.

Their biggest difference is that the TouchSmart 9100 runs on Windows 7 Professional and that it comes with pre-installed software better suited for business users rather than casual users. Finally, HP has recently released a laptop version of the latest TouchSmart models called the HP Touchsmart TM2!
